The best sources for kitchen inspiration

If you’re planning a new kitchen, then here are our favourite sources to inspire you.

1. Kitchen magazines
Various home interest magazines cover kitchens, but there are four UK titles that devote large parts of each magazine to kitchens. And they include lots of case studies (we love reading these).
We recommend getting at least one of each of the following magazines at a newsagent or WH Smith, but you can also click the links below to subscribe.

Beautiful Kitchens magazine
Essential Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom magazine
Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms magazine
Utopia Kitchen and Bathroom magazine

2. Online resources
The House to home and All about you websites have large kitchen sections with lots of kitchen pictures.
The leading kitchen blog in the UK is probably Advanced Kitchen Design from kitchen designer Majjie.
Lastly, the KBSA website has some general tips and buying guides. This is a good starting point.

3. Consumer exhibitions
Exhibitions can be inspiring, too. We especially like Grand Designs Live (in Birmingham and London) and the National Homebuilding and Renovating show.

4. Kitchen showrooms
In our opinion, kitchen showrooms are the best resource for kitchen design inspiration. Most kitchen showrooms display several kitchens so you can get a better feel how something will look. A kitchen designer will also be able to help you through the kitchen design process making sure you get the best kitchen for your requirements. They can also create CAD drawings (computer generated drawings) of how your kitchen design will look.
