Lisa Marley’s Double Chocolate Brownies

When we’re thinking about decadent sweet treats, chocolate brownies are often at the forefront of our culinary thoughts. Rich, moist and full of indulgent chocolatey goodness, brownies are heavenly when baked to perfection.

My brownie recipe provides maximum sweet satisfaction from minimum effort – they’re really that simple! Start with a bowl of whisked eggs, sugar and vanilla, then melt down some high quality chocolate and butter before adding the mixture to the eggs. I like to add a little pinch of salt to the mixture as I love the way it really brings out the flavour of the chocolate. Gently mix together with some plain flour and some raising agent and the brownie mix is complete!

For the final touch, make these brownies truly decadent and delicious by adding white chocolate chips. Delicious!



200g soft butter – unsalted

200g 70% dark chocolate – chopped

250g caster sugar

4 medium eggs – beaten

3tbsp vanilla extract

115g plain flour – sieved

Teaspoon salt

100g white chocolate chunks



Line and grease a 23cm square cake tin with baking paper

Pre-heat the oven to 160°C gas mark 3

Melt the chocolate and butter together on the hob

Use a heavy based saucepan and allow to cool

Beat the eggs, sugar and vanilla

Add in the melted chocolate and butter

Mix and combine

Add in the flour and mix until all the ingredients are completely incorporated

Add in the white chocolate chunks and gently combine by hand with a spoon

Pour into the lined baking tray and bake for 25-30 minutes

Centre should be squidgy, but not firm

The brownie will continue to cook once out of the oven

Allow to cool and cut into slices
