A black range cooker in an oak chimney mantel [kitchen case study]

1ST MAY 2012
A solid oak chimney mantel with a range cooker is a strong feature in a kitchen. It may have traditional connotations, but it can create a timeless look, too. The classic-style cabinets in this kitchen combine with a gloss black modern cooker to create a design that will last the test of time.

This Daval kitchen is located at the showroom in Huddersfield. It was designed to show off the new Oakley range. It features a central island and a solid oak chimney mantel set around the Sigma XG 110cm gloss black range cooker.

Simon Bodsworth, of Daval, told us why a Britannia range cooker was their first choice for the kitchen. He said: “As our in-frame kitchens are of high quality, it was really important to have a range cooker that was of the same standard and Britannia was the natural choice.”

They opted for the Sigma XG 110cm in gloss black; commenting: “We felt that black was a contemporary finish, as there is currently a lot of stainless steel on the market.”
