#YearOfFood – Easter

From providing the focal point of family get-togethers and fun with the children, to serving as a great hobby for whiling away leisurely evenings and weekends, food plays a huge part in our lives.

With this in mind, we’re celebrating all things food and the wealth of enjoyment it can bring with our #YearOfFood! Each month we will present a new food board, full of seasonal and timely dishes to provide you with plenty of culinary inspiration.

So, we’re kicking proceedings off with Easter! We hardly need any excuse to have a huge feast and as with many religious holidays, Easter is a not only a brilliant time of year for the family, it’s also a great time for food. Over the long weekend many of us will no doubt be indulging in a veritable feast of traditional dishes and hopefully our food boards will inspire your foodie plans!

Here’s a selection of our Easter favourites

Roast lamb: Easter wouldn’t be complete without a deliciously slow-roasted piece of lamb. Try brushing a leg of lamb with olive oil, mint and garlic and roast it in the oven for 1½ hours. Spring vegetables: Serve up your lamb with some seasonal greens to provide a fresh and vibrant spring accompaniment. Asparagus, peas and green beans with a touch of lemon juice, olive oil and parsley is a delicious option.

New potatoes: Once your potatoes are cooked to perfection, add a knob of butter, chopped spring onion and bacon to really bring them to life.

Hot cross buns: Finally, you can’t forget the most quintessential Easter delicacy of them all – the hot cross bun! You can stick to the traditional sticky and sweet bun, served toasted with butter, or you could go for a twist by adding some chocolate and cherries. For the most adventurous of you, give bacon a try. Yes, bacon!
