KITCHEN DESIGN

A black range cooker in a classic family kitchen (kitchen case study)

1ST FEBRUARY 2013

Do you like kitchens with colourful cabinets?  Or a natural wood finish? Perhaps you prefer a classic black and white design, like this Shaker kitchen from Harvey Jones?

Designed for a South London home, the main challenge for the designer of this kitchen was making the most of the property’s new extension. The client requested that the design should include plenty of space for their young family. This has been achieved with the inclusion of a large central island which can be used as an informal dining area for the whole family or as an additional preparation space.

The island features an oak work surface, which complements the storage shelves. This use of natural wood offers a softer contrast to the black granite worktops used in the rest of the kitchen.

The Britannia L Line range cooker provides a versatile family cooking solution and suits the classic design.  David Grenham, marketing manager for Harvey Jones, said the graphite model was chosen to complement the design. He said: “The black finish matches the work surfaces, tying the design together.”
