Chef Top
Be inspired by our Chef Top. Peppered steak, ginger-infused salmon, pancetta-wrapped scallops, char-grilled bell peppers or thyme-flavoured zucchinis – all can be cooked to perfection on the versatile Chef Top.
What is a Chef Top?
It’s an 8mm solid stainless steel hotplate. In Japanese restaurants it is known as a Teppan Yaki and it's used to cook everything from seafood and meat to vegetables and rice. You can use any metal utensil on the Chef Top without ever scratching its surface because it is made from high-quality stainless steel.
Healthy cooking
The Chef Top provides a healthier way to cook, because you only need to use a little oil.
What can be cooked on a Chef Top?
Anything that you would normally cook in a frying pan or wok, on a griddle or under a grill, can be cooked on a Chef Top. You can prepare anything from a full breakfast (you can even make toast on it) to stir-fries. Use it to prepare omelettes, drop scones or Welsh cakes. You can prepare several dishes (such as fish and meat) simultaneously on the Chef Top as there is no transfer of taste. A great option when you're entertaining, and when some guests prefer fish and others steak.

How do you clean a Chef Top?
You can clean the Chef Top in situ – just let it cool down while you eat. It's simple to clean; all you need is hot soapy water and a scourer.
Using a fish kettle or oval sauce pan
There’s a 3.1kW elongated fish burner beneath the Chef Top. If you’d like to use a fish kettle or other oval pans or casserole dishes, then you can convert the Chef Top into a fish burner. Just remove the Chef Top and replace it with a set of cast iron pan supports (these are supplied as standard with each Chef Top cooker).
