Range Cooker Size Considerations

Consider your kitchen layout carefully before you make any decisions about your range cooker size.

Range cooker depth

Keep in mind that some cookers will protrude whilst others will have the same depth as your kitchen cabinets. All Britannia range cookers are 60cm deep – which is the same depth as standard kitchen cabinets.

Range cooker height

Also consider the required range cooker height. All Britannia XG range cookers (all range cookers with a separate grill compartment) feature levelling feet. These allow the range cooker height to be adjusted from 910mm to 935mm.

All other Britannia range cookers (i.e. range cookers with a single oven or twin ovens without a separate grill compartment) come with height adjustable legs as standard. These allow the cooker height to be adjusted from 860mm to 910mm.

Certain specialist kitchen furniture can now be as tall as 96cm high. Extra high adjustable legs are therefore available as an optional extra for Britannia range cookers without a separate grill compartment. Extra high feet will fit kitchen furniture with a height of 910mm to 1,000mm. Please note that Britannia plinth kits are not suitable for use with these extra high legs.

Range cooker width

Which range cooker width to choose? This is a matter of kitchen size and cooking needs. Britannia’s smallest range cookers are 90cm and 100cm wide, which will suit most medium sized kitchens. However, you will need quite a lot of space to fit a 150cm range cooker. To allow the range cooker to be moved easily, Britannia recommends a gap of 2.5mm either side between the cooker and the kitchen cabinets. When comparing different range cooker brands, this gap is an important aspect to consider as some brands require much larger gaps due to lack of oven insulation.

A few key questions to ask yourself:
